The strangest thing has been happening to you for these past few weeks. You wake up in the morning like normal, plenty of time to have some breakfast and head to work, and then, for some reason, you're already a couple of hours late, with no idea what happened since you woke up.
You don't really know where the time went. You just don't know, you tried to think about it, but you're coming up blank. You don't remember what you were doing in the missing hours, do you? But, for some reason, you're not worried about it.
Your boss is pretty pissed at you and said that if this happens again, you shouldn't bother to show up at all, but you're not worried about that either. You keep wondering about what you're up to in that missing time after you wake up, and you're just on the edge of remembering something, but not quite. Well, whatever it is, it makes you smile.
You know the normal reaction to having large blanks in your memory of every day is being worried, but you can't bring yourself to worry. Every time you think about it, you just feel a feeling of bliss. For some reason, you feel all tingly inside every time you try to figure out where those hours went, but you never get anywhere with it.
Not even the prospect of losing your job troubles you. You're pretty sure this isn't normal, but you just can't bring yourself to care.
You've started going to bed early, telling yourself that it's in order to wake up earlier and make sure you're not late again, but deep down you know that it's because you can't wait for another one of those blank times.
The bad good news is that these blank periods seem to be getting longer. You wonder what you do. Oh well, you're sure it's good, otherwise you don't think you'd smile every time you try to think about it.
What you do remember of each day seems to get fuzzier and fuzzier, like in a dream. You're late for work, you call your boss, they yell at you, you smile on the phone, but it doesn't all seem real, does it? Almost as if you were asleep and dreaming. You can't wait to wake up.
It's almost time now, isn't it? Time to wake up from this weird dream and start your day. You're right on the edge of it now, awareness of what you're supposed to be doing just on the edge of your consciousness.
Go ahead, wake up, go blank.
You smile to yourself. This is going to be good. There's something about your job, not quite a thought, but something on the edge between thought and non-thought. Oh well, you don't think it's important.
Hey, wait a minute, weren't you dressed for work? No, you remember now, you need to be naked for work. It's a good thing you took off all your clothes. You can be so silly sometimes before you wake up.
It's time for work now. You start up your computer and open a blank browser page. Your fingers move by themselves as they type in the web address, your username and password. You start up your webcam and open the chat window, ready to do your job.
Aren't you forgetting something? No, you don't think so. Your first client of the day has already given you your task. The chat box contains one word: edge. You smile. You start to edge. You love this job.
